The Unexpected Call
Starting my own business in the healthcare field has been an incredible journey. I have encountered many unique experiences, but this week was truly unexpected. A few days ago, I received a call from another medical clinic. They knew my name and asked if I could join a call. This isn't unusual because, when we transfer patients between clinics, directors often coordinate to share medical charts, health histories, and other relevant information.
The person on the line introduced themselves as the manager of a clinic located 35 miles away. I won’t share their city name to protect their privacy. At that distance, they weren’t directly competing for our in-person patients. However, we do support statewide patients through Telehealth and have a few patients in their city already.
Compliments and Challenges
After exchanging pleasantries, the manager expressed admiration for my clinic. They had been following my progress and were impressed by my reviews, patient outcomes, and overall success. This was flattering, of course. But then, to my surprise, the manager revealed that they were struggling. They had been in business for about two months and managed to sign up only four patients, one of whom was a family member.
I faced an immediate decision: should I help them as best I could, or should I politely decline their request? If they closed, I could potentially absorb their patient base. After considering my options, I told them that I would be happy to assist.
The Meeting
Yesterday, the owner and clinic manager visited our clinic. We spent several hours discussing everything we do, as well as the mistakes we’ve made along the way. I shared our paperwork and contact information for our partners. This includes marketing strategies, pharmacies, and patient tracking software. We even invited them to sign up as test patients to experience what it’s like to join our clinic from the patient's perspective.
I was excited to share the resources that could make a difference. I even shared our books with the owner. I wanted them to see that this can be a real business. More importantly, it can be a venture that positively impacts our patients' lives in transformative ways.
The Importance of Collaboration
In my early days, I wished there had been another clinic willing to share their approach. Learning through trial and error was rewarding, but it often felt lonely. Now, I have the opportunity to share our knowledge with others.
I firmly believe in the idea of cosmic karma. When you put good things out into the world, good things come back to you. I genuinely believe in the transformative impact of the medications and in-person support we provide. I wouldn't want their patients to have negative experiences or leave with tainted feedback. Such incidents can affect our entire industry.
Looking Ahead
As they revamp their clinic and learn from our experiences, I hope they will reach out. Sharing knowledge can lead to innovative solutions. This collaboration will not only benefit our clinics but also improve the lives of our patients.
In conclusion, I want to stress the importance of collaboration in healthcare. Supporting others in our field ultimately leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.
The "Real Support" of our ethos includes supporting our patients, our staff, and even our competitors. Together, we can create an environment that fosters growth and positive transformation in healthcare.
