Dr Karan Raman from TikTok - NO GLP1 meds ARE NOT CHEATING!

Hey everyone — summarizing a good piece from The Focus (full article at the bottom), but honestly this one needs no study. I hear it in person.

Somewhere along the way, TikTok decided that taking Semaglutide or Tirzepatide is "cheating." That real weight loss only counts if you suffered for it through diet and exercise alone. Patients have literally sat in our clinic and apologized for needing medication.

Let me set this straight: using these medications is not cheating. It's treating a medical condition with medicine.

Nobody calls it cheating when you take blood pressure medication instead of "just relaxing more." Nobody shames a diabetic for insulin. Obesity is a chronic, hormone-driven, biologically-defended condition — your body literally fights weight loss by ramping hunger and slowing metabolism. That's not a character flaw, and overcoming it doesn't require suffering to be legitimate.

Here's what these medications actually do: they level the playing field. They quiet the food noise so the choices you already knew you should make become choices you CAN make. You still do the work — the protein, the movement, the habit changes. The medication just stops your biology from sabotaging the work.

And the "rando's on TikTok" calling people cheaters? They weren't there for your years of diets. They didn't watch you lose forty pounds and regain fifty. After 1,300+ patients at our clinics, I've yet to meet one person for whom this was the easy way out. It's just the first thing that finally WORKED.

You don't owe anyone an apology for getting healthy.
