Best Habits During Semaglutide Treatment

The best habits during semaglutide treatment are not glamorous. Protein. Strength training. Water. Showing up when the scale is being diabolical. That is the work. Semaglutide can turn down food noise, which is a massive relief, but the medication is only half of it.

I know because I am on these medications too, and I am down more than 90 pounds. I also had a 90-day plateau that made my engineering brain want to throw the scale into the Sound. I did not. Trust the process.

Best Habits During Semaglutide Treatment That Matter

Start with protein. At Pacific Northwest Medical Group, we set a 100g-per-day minimum target for most patients because losing weight without protecting muscle is a bad trade. Muscle helps you stay capable, steady, and less likely to regain everything when the medication changes or stops. Appetite can be lower on semaglutide, so protein needs to be intentional, not an afterthought at 8 p.m.

Then do resistance training. Not punishing workouts. Not a January gym-kick fantasy. Use the resistance bands we give patients, lift something manageable, and repeat it. Consistency beats intensity every time.

Hydration is less exciting. Still necessary. A lower appetite can mean you are also drinking less than usual, and that can make constipation, fatigue, and feeling generally lousy worse. Our staff will ask about your poop. Seriously. It is not glamorous medicine, but it is real medicine.

Use Data Without Letting It Ruin Your Week

The scale is one data point. A moody one. Water retention, digestion, and normal body changes can hide progress for days or weeks. That is why our monthly Styku body scans matter. Across more than 1,300 patients, we have seen people frustrated by a flat scale while their measurements are moving in the right direction.

That scan does not flatter you or lecture you. It gives us something useful to discuss.

The final habit is staying connected. Mail-order programs can leave people alone with a vial and questions. Nope. Our patients receive labeled prescription vials with their names on them, can use drop-in hours without an appointment, and have a support group when motivation gets thin. We can also say, “not yet,” when pushing ahead is not the right move.

You do not need perfect meals or a perfect week. You need a program that helps you keep making the next reasonable choice. If you are in Puyallup or Federal Way and tired of doing this alone, come in for a free consult. No sales-pitch gymnastics. Just a straight conversation about what fits.

Diving into Sleep

Short version: Losing just 80 minutes of sleep a night for six weeks caused people to gain weight — but not for the reason scientists assumed. The weight didn't come from eating more. It came from mov
